Togetherness
What’s the Word
Togetherness…
My original word was community but after hearing the word togetherness at the funeral service for Tatum Meins, I shifted gears. The beginning of April was full of family time and the final push for Spring sports. Easter seems like forever ago as tragedy struck just a mere five days later.
I have been amazed by the heart and generosity of the people in Kingman, Arizona. The softball community across the state, the fireman brotherhood and the biker community has come out in full force to honor both Tatum and Siri. I’m still in awe of the three local high schools supporting each other and creating a united front.
My heart is still heavy for the loss of life and the healing of the others who were either in the vehicle or the witnesses. In my check-in from Chaplain George (something I receive every 4 weeks since my Grammie’s passing) he writes, “Remember that healing takes time and is often unnoticeable. Keep on. Stay active. Don’t isolate and remember, grief dehydrates.”
Good Reads
I needed something to go to this month and returned to one of my favorite books, The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday. It has a daily bit of wisdom or philosophy. Somehow it always seems to give the message I need to hear, and sometimes it’s the one I don’t want to hear but need.
Tip of the Month
Take a moment to say hi, I love you, or thank a coach, teammate, parent, teacher, or friend. Even if it’s been a while, just do it.
What’s On Deck
Softball lessons are in full swing and I am nearly full. I will be creating a Fieldhouse Round Table group for the summer to work on topics such as goal setting, leadership, confidence and more. June will be a free group!! More info to come.
